Specific Injuries Experience
Rachel has significant experience working as a Case Manager for clients who are in the litigation process and also for those whose claims for damages have settled. She is Case Manager for a number of clients who have significant and highly complex injuries, which includes brain injury, amputations, complex orthopaedic injuries and brachial plexus injuries. She also has substantial experience supporting clients with spinal and spinal cord injuries.
Rachel is an experienced Occupational Therapist with extensive specialised skills in the areas of long-term condition management and neurological rehabilitation. All throughout her career Rachel has worked with adults who have suffered a combination of trauma injuries, including orthopaedic injury and amputation. She has worked specifically with individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and other respiratory conditions.
In both roles, Rachel has experience in managing clients from the acute stage to discharge into the community and beyond.
Employment Profile
Rachel has worked as a Care Expert Witness with Jacqueline Webb & Co since 2014.
Alongside this, Rachel works as a Case Manager for adults with complex rehabilitation and care needs, including those with acquired or traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. She is experienced in directly recruiting support workers and managing agency care staff. Rachel facilitates and co-ordinates support packages to enable each individual to have a safe, sociable, purposeful and active lifestyle in which they remain as independent as possible.
This role involves assessing needs for case management, care and rehabilitation as well as risk assessment and development of risk management strategies. Rachel also designs, develops and monitors multi-disciplinary rehabilitation packages.
In her previous roles Rachel has managed large caseloads of clients working as an autonomous practitioner to ensure a high standard of quality care. Rachel has assessed and treated individuals with a wide range of complex and multiple needs, such as COPD, neurological conditions, orthopaedic injuries and palliative care. She completed comprehensive assessments using investigative and analytical skills to formulate management plans, mutually agreed goals and treatment plans.
Rachel has experience in making recommendations pertaining to packages of care within the community and home environment, including the provision of equipment and adaptations to maximise occupational performance. Whilst working in acute medicine she worked on complex discharge planning within multi-disciplinary teams which included wheelchair prescription, including mobility and transfer training for complex multi-trauma and non-weight bearing orthopaedic clients.
Rachel is an organised, reliable and hardworking therapist who works well under pressure. She is a highly experienced chair person, frequently facilitating team meetings and case conferences. Her written documentation is completed to a high standard.
