Specific Injuries Experience
Louise works as an independent Case Manager and has extensive experience in supporting adults with traumatic or acquired brain injuries and complex multi-pathology following injury or medical negligence.
Her clients commonly have a combination of cognitive, psychological and physical injuries which impact on all aspects of their daily lives.
Many of Louise’s clients have significant physical injuries, often in addition to brain injury, including amputation and spinal injury.
Louise works with adults and older teens; she is experienced in considering the wider impact of her client’s injuries on their responsibilities for education, work and family life, and childcare. She is responsible for engaging therapy and care services and reviewing the ongoing requirements for these services, adjusting recommendations and care plans in accordance with the client’s changing needs. Louise has experience of using both agency care and directly employing support workers to provide care.
She values each client’s individual lifestyle choices and strongly supports leisure and holiday goals to maximise quality of life.
Although she works in the private sector Louise works alongside statutory services and supports her clients with assessments for funding and benefits.
Employment Profile
Louise has worked as an independent Expert Witness with Jacqueline Webb & Co since 2006 and has completed numerous reports for use in litigation. She has extensive experience of attending case conferences and participating in expert meetings. She has given evidence in Court on two occasions, including virtual Court in 2020. She has recently become a Mentor for Jacqueline Webb Experts who are preparing to give evidence in Court.
Louise previously led her own Case Management Company for almost 10 years, providing case management services to adults with brain injury or multi-pathology complex cases. Alongside her own Case Management caseload, as Company Director Louise also prepared for CQC registration which consolidated the practical knowledge she has with ensuring directly employed care is safe and well managed.
In order to focus more time on her clinical role, rather than business management, Louise has joined Integrated Case Management as a Case Manager. Her role is to co-ordinate the care, rehabilitation, vocational and housing needs of clients and provide support to their families. Many of the clients she works with have multi-pathology from being involved in road traffic accidents or accidents in the workplace and Louise engages privately employed and agency care packages, identifying the most appropriate solution.
Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 1998, Louise has a wide range of experience in hospital, community and social services settings and has worked in many specialist areas including medicine and surgery – predominantly amputees, orthopaedics and neurosciences. Whilst she has particular expertise in acquired and traumatic brain injury, having worked in this area since 2001, Louise continues to work with amputees and orthopaedic injuries.
Louise is a member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM), and Case Management Society UK (CMSUK).
